Farm tools
Calculate quantities without leaving your current task.

Farm tools
Select Tools in the top bar. Your entered farm record stays in place. Choose Calculator for everyday sums or Farm calculations for guided farm questions, the feed purchase planner and supplier comparison.
Open tools
Open Planning > Tools for the full workspace, or select Tools in the top bar to use the overlay while keeping your current form open. Open in Planning carries your current inputs, history and comparisons into the workspace. On a laptop, switch between Calculator and Farm calculations in the Tools bar; on a phone, use the switch at the top of the tool. A note at the bottom says what the tools leave unchanged. Drafts last only for this session; reloading or signing out clears them.
Work out a number

- In Calculator, type a calculation or use the keypad.
- The answer appears under your calculation as you type.
- Press = or Enter to finish it and add it to History. Press an operator next to keep going from the answer.
- Choose Copy beside the answer, or close the panel to return to your work.
In Planning > Tools, a panel beside the calculator adds:
- Quick conversions, which apply to the number on the calculator: trays to eggs (× 30), eggs to trays (÷ 30), 50 kg bags to kg (× 50) and grams to kg (÷ 1000). A sum is bracketed first, so the conversion applies to all of it.
- Farm calculations: feed requirements, egg production, feed conversion (FCR) and break-even price.
- Recent calculations, always shown. Select one to reuse it.
AC clears the calculation and ⌫ removes the last character. If a
calculation cannot be worked out, such as dividing by zero, the reason shows
when you press =. You can also type % and ^ (power). Percent means
divide by 100: enter 200 * 1.10 to add 10% to 200.
Open History to reuse an earlier calculation or copy its answer.
Find a farm calculation
Choose Farm calculations, then open What do you want to calculate? and search by question or word, such as feed, eggs, costs or water. Suggested lists calculations that fit the screen you opened the calculator from, for example prices and margins from Finance. Recent calculations keep their own entered values.
| Need | Search for |
|---|---|
| Buy enough feed or check remaining stock | Feed bags, stock cover |
| Check bird performance | FCR, daily gain, mortality, uniformity |
| Work out egg or chick output | Egg production, trays, hatch, chick target |
| Set prices or compare costs | Unit cost, margin, break-even, package prices |
| Plan supplies and work | Water, equipment, litter, electricity, dates, labour |
| Scale a known product rate | Product rate, vaccine vial, dilution, recipe |

The answer appears above the inputs and updates as you type. Until every value is entered it tells you how many are still missing. While you change a value, the last answer stays in place, greyed out, until the new one is ready.
Enter values for the same group and period. Money calculations ask you to choose a Currency; your farm currency is selected first. Use that currency for every amount. Formula and assumptions explains each denominator and any excluded costs. Product tools need the label or prescribed rate; they do not select a treatment or dose.
Calculate inside a number field
Many number fields on capture and finance forms accept a sum. Type 12*30+8
in Eggs, or 120*30+500 in an expense Amount: the answer appears under
the field. Press = or Enter, or move to the next field, to use it. Your form
saves the answer, never the sum.
On a phone, select the calculator icon inside the field. Tap the sum on the keypad and choose OK to put the answer in the field; Cancel leaves the field as it was. Fields for birds and eggs refuse an answer with a fraction, such as 368.5, instead of rounding it.
Typical values
Some fields offer typical values when you select them, such as daily feed per bird, bag sizes, breed target weights (Ross 308, Cobb 500), laying rate, egg weight, stocking density, water per bird, birds per drinker or feeder, litter depth, incubation and cycle days, and vaccine vial sizes. Each shows where it comes from, for example a breed management guide or an EU limit. Pick one to fill the field, or type your own; your breed guide, local rules and conditions take priority. Withdrawal periods, doses and treatments are never suggested.
Use recorded values
For supported tools, open Use farm records. Use this Lot loads the Lot you are viewing; Find another Lot searches other Lots. Choose a match and Use selected Lot. These replace matching inputs; check them and fill the remaining fields. Loading needs a connection and permission for the records.
The source and timestamp appear below the controls. Synced values exclude queued entries. Missing weights, hatch dates and true-fertility counts remain blank. Current live-chick balances are not used as original hatch counts.
For house capacity and litter, choose a House and Use house floor area to load its recorded floor area. Reduce it for space birds cannot use.
For feed orders, Load feed stock, choose the item and location, then Use selected stock. This loads kilogram stock from that location only. For unit-cost or profit calculations, Use recorded costs loads the Lot's recorded lifetime costs when your role and plan allow profitability reads. Check that the output you enter covers the same period.
Compare a different plan
In Farm calculations, open Compare with another plan below the inputs
and choose Save current answer. Change any value to see the saved answer,
the current answer and the change, such as +2 bags (+20%). Save current
answer instead starts a new comparison; Clear comparison removes it.
Changes are only shown when both answers use the same unit and currency.
Convert a quantity
Choose Convert units and packages, enter the quantity and select both units. Bag and egg-package sizes appear in the unit names. Check those sizes against the package you use. Conversion can return a fractional package.
Use Formula and assumptions to check how an answer was calculated. Reset beside Inputs clears the selected calculation. Closing retains your calculations and history while this signed-in app session remains open; a reload clears them.
All manual calculations work offline once the app shell is available. Calculating or copying a result does not record a purchase, sale or stock use.
Feed purchase planner
In Farm calculations, choose Feed purchase planner. Set Planning days, Extra reserve days, Delivery lead time and Bag weight. Under Use farm records, add each selected Lot, then load and include each feed stock location available for this purchase. Lot access and the feeding-programme plan feature are required for programme reads; stock requires Inventory access. Manual estimates remain available.
Use Add a manual estimate when a Lot has no programme. A manual Lot uses one daily feeding rate; its bird count, rate and feed item stay editable in the plan. Review each Lot's bird count, starting programme day and phases. Demand uses fixed bird counts and the current programme, including changes of feed within the period. Missing programme days or feed items block the shopping list. Queued movements and other commitments are excluded. Check source timestamps and reload sources if the plan has been kept open.
The shopping list separates each feed item, expected use, reserve, included stock, whole bags to buy and when to order. Now with a delivery warning means normal supply would arrive too late. In a manual estimate, search your feed items and pick one so its stock can be deducted; a typed name only matches stock when it equals the item's stock key. Daily feed and bag weight offer typical values. Stock that exactly covers the plan never adds a bag. Estimates do not reserve stock or place an order. If a field cannot be used, the message beside it explains what to enter.
Supplier comparison
In Farm calculations, choose Supplier comparison, or Compare suppliers for a feed item in the shopping list. The planner carries the exact shortage before bag rounding so each offer can use its own bag size. Each feed item keeps its own offers in this session, so changing Feed item shows that feed's offers.
Enter the required kg and choose one Comparison currency for every offer. For each supplier, search your suppliers or type a name, then enter bag weight (typical sizes are offered) and price per bag. Open Charges, delivery and terms for goods discount, tax basis/rate, total transport including its tax, delivery lead time and payment terms. Defaults are tax included, zero extra charges and zero delivery days; change them to match each offer. The tax rate appears when the price excludes tax. Choose Compare offers: any field that cannot be used is highlighted with a message and focused. Remove unused offers or complete them.
Results compare the total cash needed to cover the same requirement, the whole-bag quantity supplied, excess kg and delivered cost per supplied kg. The lowest total purchase cost carries a badge; review feed quality, delivery and payment terms before choosing. Included tax is not added twice. Recoverable tax is not deducted. Copy comparison copies the results for review. No purchase, expense or supplier record is created.
