For farms that sell eggs: shops, storefronts, wholesalers and distributors

Sell your eggs from the same record as your farm

Use PoultryDesk as your point of sale, whether you serve walk-in buyers at a shop or supply retailers, traders and distributors in bulk. Sell eggs from your own flocks and eggs you buy from other farms, keep the two stocks apart, and see who still owes you.

From the farm to the buyer

  1. Set up your farms and where you sell

Add each farm as a site with its houses and flocks. A shop, storefront or depot you run as its own site counts towards your plan's site limit. Give its store a site before buying eggs from other farms.

  2. Record eggs you buy from other farms

Record the purchase once as an expense in the Goods for resale category, in eggs, trays of 30 or crates of 144. The expense adds the eggs to stock, so you do not receive them a second time.

  3. Sell at the counter or in bulk

Choose a walk-in buyer or a regular customer, then the stock for each line: your own graded eggs or the purchased eggs. Price books and customer agreements fill in each buyer's price, and a delivery fee can go on drop-offs. Mark the sale paid by cash, mobile money, bank transfer or card, or put it on credit.

  4. Invoice and collect

Send invoices to buyers who pay later, record payments as they arrive and share a statement when you ask for payment.

  5. Sort only what the buyer needs

Short of a grade? Sort for this sale grades your farm eggs and records the sale in one step.

What your records show

Stock by source
Your own graded eggs and purchased eggs show separately. A sale is stopped when the stock you chose is short, so counts stay true.
Who owes you
Credit sales and open invoices add up on each customer's balance, whether they are a corner shop or a distributor.
Flock profit, kept honest
Purchased eggs carry no flock costs, so each flock's profit reflects what it produced. The cost of purchased eggs counts when they are sold.

Before you start

Is this a point-of-sale till?

It records counter and bulk sales, payments and stock. It does not print till slips, scan barcodes or collect mobile-money payments; you record the payment you received. How recording a sale works

Does it work for wholesale and distribution?

Yes for the sales records: prices for each buyer, crates of 144, delivery fees, invoices with due dates and customer balances. It does not plan delivery routes or track vehicles. Invoices and payments

Which plan do I need?

Sales, stock and customer invoices start on Grower (Pro). Check the site limits and count a shop or depot if you set it up as its own site. Compare plans

Do I move my farm eggs into the shop or depot first?

No. Your own eggs stay in the farm's egg stock and you sell from it directly. Choose that stock when you record the sale. Sorting and counting eggs

Does a credit sale count as paid?

No. It goes on the customer's balance until you record a payment against it. Customers and balances
